Resumo:
This paper is stimulated by the reflection about formation and teaching work for the curricular component of Religious Education, having in view the questionings and changes that have taken place in the teaching practice. The study has as its focus the formation and work of teachers of religious education who work in spaces of public and private schools. In this sense, there is a need to understand the national legislation and other documents which guide the teaching practice in the daily life of the classes of Religious Education. The methodological procedures considered necessary, regarding the goal of the research, were made up of bibliographic and documental research. The results pointed to the need for specific training for teachers who teach the curricular component of religious education so as to make possible action in conformity with the lay proposal of Brazil, as well as qualified in the formation for citizenship contributing to the construction of a more equalitarian society.
