Abstract:
This research has the goal of explaining a study about the work, profile and attributes of a school manager. For this the study is founded on a historical, pedagogical and administrative context of the Brazilian educational system. Besides this the research deals with relevant concepts such as: leadership, ethics, democratic management, the role of the educational manager, models of management and guiding legislation for education of the country. The relevance of these concepts pervades the whole construction of this research and also demonstrates their efficacy and efficiency in the educational process. Finally, there is emphasis on the ideal management model that should be implanted in the teaching institution where the social and professional construction of the citizens are prioritized – the Instituto Federal de Educação [The Federal Institute of Education].
