Resumen:
This paper is about the importance of the family institution for the ethical formation of a person, having family ministry as a means through which this formation is carried out. The family has the key to education. It is up to the family to provide a virtuous education for the children. Throughout the research one perceived that the balance in society has its base precisely in education. The ethics which are taught as good habits in a balanced family from the point of view of experiencing values, are ethics which permeate the whole life history of the person, coming to influence directly, in a certain way, the exercise of citizenship. Depending on the way the person is educated at home (in the family), this already constitutes a legacy for school education and for society. One wishes to make it understood that the education of the children is, in the first place, up to the family. It is the first place of relationship and dialog. The person needs to learn to administrate and take care of the common good. The text is divided into three parts, being the first part deals with the concepts of family ministry, its origin and goal, besides analyzing family ministry in the Parnaíba Diocese, from its foundation up to current times. The second part is more extensive and analyzes the documents of the Church relating to the relevance of the family for the citizen education of the children. Documents of the Teaching of the Church chosen by content are verified, among these the conclusions of the Conferences of Aparecida, Santo Domingo, Puebla and Medellin and documents of the CNBB [National Conference of Brazilian Bishops] within the time range of 2014-2017. The third part concerns itself with giving ethical inspirations aiming at a reordering of the family, accentuating two points: Being ethical and the Initiation to Christian life in the family context.
