Resumo:
The theme of this paper is the methodology of Jesus’ teaching. The goal is to reflect about Jesus’ method of teaching and how this influences contemporary pedagogy. Based on a bibliographic study, one initially contemplates education in ancient times besides defining what pedagogy is. One reflects about teaching in the Old Testament, in the Law and in the prophecies, in which Jesus was educated. Jesus’ methodology has the word as its foundation, based on his teachings in the parables and in the discourses, among others, to be shown in practice through the miracles and his life example. The methodology of Jesus’ teaching, based on the people and their oppressive context, demonstrates the need to get to know the reality in order to teach with a teaching methodology which makes it possible for the people to understand the teachings, as Paulo Freire did. In this way Jesus’ methodology, in its liberating essence, remains current since it always begins with the context of the individuals seeking liberation or, to use a more contemporary term, for the exercise of citizenship.
