Resumen:
This research proposes to analyze the importance of the nurseries of the Baptist churches as an environment of education in the faith, of caretaking and of play. In these churches, there is, generally, a special room for the babies: the nursery. In most of them, the nursery serves only as a space for the babies to stay so they do not “bother” the adults during the worship. Rarely, are pedagogical or playful interventions carried out. However, how can the nursery be used for caretaking and for play as well as for the education in the faith of babies from 0 to 2 years of age in the Baptist churches? We intend to respond to this question and to do so a bibliographic review was carried out as well as a social research of the case study type with the nursery of the First Baptist Church of Curitiba. The work is divided into three chapters: the first refers to the characteristics of the physical, cognitive, affectionate and spiritual development of children from 0 to 2 years of age. The second is about the characteristics of the physical structure of the nursery, of the team of nursery workers and of the importance of an adequate curriculum and methodology for the nursery. The third presents the three axes for an efficacious nursery which are education, caretaking and play. In the nursery all the actions need to be integrated to propitiate the healthy growth and wholesome development of the babies.
