Abstract:
This study is a research carried out in the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará – Iguatu Campus, the goal of which was to evaluate the contribution of the work developed in the Equine Therapy Center Galopes da Inclusão (Gallops of Inclusion), from a perspective of social inclusion through equine therapy which is a therapeutic method in which the horse is used as a tool within an interdisciplinary approach, seeking the biopsychosocial development of persons with deficiencies. In the first moment the research occupies itself with presenting a conceptual and historical approach on social inclusion, inclusive education and a recovery of the inclusion policies in Brazil. In a second moment one looks at the history of equine therapy, its conceptualization, Basic Programs, formation of the Multidisciplinary Team and, besides this, the possiblities of inclusion through equine therapy, as well as the pathologies treated and the resulting benefits. Finally, in a third moment, there is a description of how the Equine Therapy Center Galopes da Inclusão works, the methodology used, the presentation and analyses of the results of the research. The methodology adopted was qualitative research, of bibliographic and documental character. After the documental analysis the hypotheses that emerged were confirmed, concluding that the Equine Therapy Center Galopes da Inclusão contributes in a significant way to the social inclusion of people with deficiencies, it broadens the range of family and social relationships, it develops self-esteem, trust and learning, propitiating quality of life for the participants treated and their families.
