Resumen:
The dissertation discusses the contribution of religious education toward citizen formation in the years of the 60s, 70s and 80s, at the Erasto Gaertner High School. Toward this end the historical and social context of the Paraná education, especially in Curitiba, at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century was presented. Besides this the structure, the form in which it functions and the characterization of the Erasto Gaertner High School were presented, as a result of a field research with regard to Religious Education, the object of investigation of this paper. The problem that guided the investigation was the following: How did the religious education administered at the Erasto Gaertner High School, a Protestant confessional schoolof German origin in Curitiba, contribute to the formation of the citizen with regard to the ethical, political, cultural and social aspects of the basic education students who frequented the school in the decades of 1960, 1970 and 1980? Since the object of investigation was Religious Education in the context of an Educational Institution, the methodology used was that of field research of the qualitative order. To better delineate the methodological process, the research called ex-post-facto research was also chosen as it was adequate for the proposal of this investigation. For the collection of data in the social research, an informal interview was used with the technical and pedagogical team of the School as well as a questionnaire for the alumni. Various authors in the area of education, religion and theology made up the theoretical foundation thus permitting argumentations and analyses. The results revealed that the religious education working at the College in the surveyed decades, although different from what is currently considered an ideal training citizenship, active participation in various sectors of society, contributed to a good formation of the human being in the humanitarian sense of practice of social service, based on the love of Christ, the master of Christians.
