Resumen:
The teaching of Mathematics within the perspective of Education through Principles is the theme of this paper which intends to present the contextualization of this area of knowledge within the national scenario and within Education through Principles, verifying their relation with the pedagogical tendencies and with three theoreticians, who, like Education through Principles, are centered on the holistic development of the student (Piaget, Perrenoud e Ausubel). To carry out this study, a bibliographic research was carried out about the relevant themes for the comprehension of the subject dealt with. The metanalysis of the data furnished by the Ministry of Education was carried out. The work was divided into four chapters in such a way that the first chapter presents a general panorama of the Pedagogical Tendencies applied in Brazil at the end of the 20th century and beginning of the 21st and its influences on the formation through the Education through Principles. The second chapter presents an analysis of educational statistical data in the area of Mathematics based on the evaluations on a large scale with the purpose of confirming information referring to the failure in this area of knowledge, besides explaining the existing perspective of Religious Education in the area of public schools and confessional schools. The contextualization of Mathematics in the national scenario, the perception of the professor of this area of knowledge, the fear or lack of knowledge of the students with regard to Mathematics and the educational tendencies present in the development of Mathematics in contemporaneity make up chapter 3. Based on these observations and coming back to the central theme of this paper, in chapter 4 a contextualization of Mathematics in Education through Principles and all of its methodological development is carried out.
