Abstract:
The study brings as a main focus two of the transversal themes suggested in the National Curricular Parameters (PCNs), which are: Environment and Ethics; both complement each other and demonstrate a primordial need for applicability to society in general. The scope of this work aims at analyzing the referred themes in the school context. In this way one seeks to understand the factors which contribute to the consolidation of the ethical values to be applied within environmental education. Besides this, one aims to get to know possibilities which could contribute to attenuate the environmental ethical problematic through education in public Grade and High schools. It is a strictly bibliographic research in which various printed materials were used such as: books, scientific articles, theses, journals and periodicals. The reading and selection of materials regarding the PCNs became indispensable for understanding the concepts of the ethical values used in environmental education. These ideas are defended by academics such as Paulo Freire, Leonardo Boff, among others. It was also observed that after the emergence of the PCNs, which had their origins in educational public policies – and were created in the sense of adapting to the new millennium – a new way of looking at education emerged. Faced with the current situation of environmental imbalance the exercise of the themes of Ethics and Environment is urgently needed in the process of teaching-learning since these are part of the life of every citizen. Thus, there is a strong connection of the ethical behavior of the human being with the environment, and its applicability through interdisciplinarity is a path for reaching sustainability, as well as arriving at a world desired by the Creator.
