Resumen:
This study is a research carried out with Course Conclusion Papers (TCC) of the mathematics teaching program in the distance modality of the Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB) [Open University of Brazil] in partnership with the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE) [Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará], with the goal of investigating the process of constructing identity and constituting authorship through looking at course conclusion papers. To theoretically give foundation to the research, authors in the areas of education, Portuguese language and distance education will be used. Among these are: Freire, Bakhtin, Larrosa, Foucault, Kleiman, Val, Koch and Valente. The research is structured in three chapters with the first two presenting a theoretical approach about the formation of the autonomy of the subject and the construction of the person’s identity based on the skills of reading and writing, and in regard to the exercise of writing. In the third chapter the data identified in the analysis will be presented and discussed. To make the survey of the information a qualitative documental research of explanatory nature was used where documents referring to the course and to the curricular component of Course Conclusion Paper (CCTCC) were analyzed, such as the political pedagogical project of the program (PPC), the plan of the didactic unit of the curricular component (PUD), the regulamentation of the TCC, reports of enrollments and the results of the students, besides the TCCs produced in the program. To verify some aspects the whole of the TCCs available was examined, for others, a sample of 15% (fifteen percent) of this total was used, equivalent to 25 (twenty five) papers. In the data analysis a satisfactory percentage of approvals of the enrolled students in the CCTCC – above 90% (ninety percent) was observed, based on the reports made available,. The examination carried out on all the TCCs showed that the objects researched were pertinent to the area of formation of the program. However, a preference for a specific theme was demonstrated with registers of similarity between the themes. Also observed was a low incidence of referencing of works published by professionals of the institution, as well as the inexistence of allusion to other TCCS already produced in the program. The investigation carried out based on the selected sample made evident the manifestation of a critical positioning and of a deepening of the ideas on the part of the researchers. It also showed an index considered low of citations through apud. However, the practice of plagiarism in a significant part of the works also showed up. In the end one can affirm that the goals of the research were reached with emphasis on some aspects considered relevant: the observation that the TCC is not constituting itself as an important factor in the eventual remaining or abandoning the program; the need to make viable a system where students can access the TCCs elaborated in the program; the need to invest in efficient strategies to disencourage the practice of plagiarism and the preeminence in the use of efficient means to improve the divulgement of the science produced in the institution.
