Resumen:
The goal of this research is to study the relation between ethics and the process of evaluation of performance in a public teaching institution identifying the particularities of a public institution compared to the private. The work was divided into three chapters. The first presents a theoretical foundation for Performance Evaluation, analyzing how some authors deal with this instrument of management. The second deals with ethics and the ways it presents itself in the relations between people, between businesses and the relation between business and society, besides dealing with the Christian ethics and how it can make itself present in daily life and in the organizations. In the third chapter we will present the reality of a public teaching institution, more specifically, the Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE) [the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará], presenting a contextualization and analyzing the process and the instruments of evaluation of their professors and technical-administrative workers. Finally, the final considerations and conclusions of the study will be presented taking into account the goals proposed at the beginning of this paper.
