Abstract:
The present work presents reflections about the production of short films by adolescents and the relationship between artistic cinematographic production, education, spirituality and the search for the meaning of life. Much more than just its pedagogical content, the general objective of this dissertation is to demonstrate that the production of short films by adolescent students can show itself as a way for them to find meaning in life. The present research is organized in three chapters where, in the first chapter, concepts and implications of adolescence are analyzed, considerations are made about adolescence and the audiovisual sector, and the target audience of the study will be presented. In the second chapter, the analysis focuses on cinema, its historical evolution and peculiarities, the correlation between cinema and education, discussing learning through art, literacy themes and the stages of production of a short film, to finally present the short film production project and impressions. The third chapter, in turn, focuses on the analysis of the concept of
spirituality, its implications in relation to religion and the understanding of the transcendence of the concept. Spirituality is also discussed as an inductor of the path towards the meaning of life which leads to the analysis of the existing correlation between spirituality and education. In the same chapter, the testimonies of the
adolescents participating in the short film production project at IENH will be analyzed in view of the emergence of the concepts presented here. It was perceived that the project of film production by adolescents in a context of liberating education, where spirituality is understood as a dimension of the human being, is capable of presenting itself as a way to discover the meaning of life as an expression of spirituality.
