Abstract:
This dissertation is a research that sought to answer the following question: how can Burnout Syndrome interfere with performance professional teaching? Thus, the aim of the study was to analyze the consequences of this disease in the professionals in higher education and basic, technical and technological education (BTTE). The research was exploratory and bibliographical, which sought to define the Burnout, its consequences in the performance of professional teaching and prevention strategies. It was found that being a teaching professional currently is a complex mission, as it requires, in addition to pedagogical skills (teaching, research, extension), the development of social and emotional abilities. Furthermore, it was notorious that the work environment can cause teaching to become ill. Thus, there is a large number of complaints from teachers about psychic suffering, suffering that, if not treated, can lead to the emergence of the studied syndrome - compromising the individual's physical, mental and even spiritual health and impacting the performance of their functions. The results obtained evidence the extreme need for actions to prevent Burnout Syndrome and promote care and self-care, in the physical, mental and spiritual spheres, in educational institutions. Therefore, the relevance of this dissertation lies in the fact that it contributes to future studies that propose to carry out field research on the subject, especially with the BTTE audience and serves as a source of reflections on ways of coping and preventing the emergence of this disease in teaching.
