Resumen:
This dissertation arose from the interest in investigating cultural plurality in the higher education classroom and how it manifests itself in the context of the “euthanasia” theme. The corpus consists of a class in the discipline of Bioethics and Deontology of the IV Semester of the Physiotherapy course at Faculdade Independente do Nordeste, located in the city of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. The students participating in this research totaled 27 people, 23 women and four men. For the development of this research, we relied on studies from different areas, mainly, theology, philosophy, sociology and education. The methodology used was qualitative and quantitative, with a bibliographic research being developed and an interview through a questionnaire. The guiding question of this research is: Does religion influence the level of tolerance towards euthanasia? The data analysis included the answers to the seven questions in the questionnaire, four of which were objective and three were discursive. We start from the hypothesis that higher education, being a space that supports diversity among students, allows the manifestation of differences in a respectful way. According to the results, of the 27 interviewees, 16 are favorable and 11 are against the practice of euthanasia. However, despite the manifestation contrary to the practice of such a procedure, all of the informants stated that they did not experience embarrassment, nor did they feel offended with dealing with the theme “euthanasia” in class, and there was respect for the opposite opinions.
