Resumen:
This thesis analyzes the “Inter-religious space” of the Salgado Filho International Airport in Porto Alegre-RS, researching what inter-religious spaces are in airports, how they emerged and what they propose. This done, an analysis of the architecture of the inter-religious spaces in the West was done. Based on the architecture of the “Inter-religious Space” of the Porto Alegre airport we will observe its possible limits and potentialities as an inter-religious space inserted in an airport. Taking into account that airports are places of transitoriness, one observes that an inter-religious space in an airport should be a place where people can take a pause in time. A pause which permits them to say their individual prayers, meditate and rest from the pressure of traveling. The dynamics of the space should contemplate the spirituality of the body, that is, in these spaces the religious liturgy is carried out by the body itself. It was evident that the inter-religious spaces in airports have the challenge of not being architectonically structured so as to contemplate the liturgical space of a specific religion. It also was evident that there is the challenge of not overwhelming the space with various religious symbols in the attempt to be inter-religious. We concluded that the inter-religious spaces in airports of the West are architectonically configured as liturgical spaces of community celebrations of the Christian faith.
