Resumen:
The research proposed has as its theme restorative justice, which corresponds to a new paradigm which aims at humanizing and recovering damages stemming from crimes suffered. Restorative justice does not correspond to punitive system since it offers the people involved the possibility of conciliation and dialog. Bibliographic and field research of the case study type, were carried out with a qualitative approach. The bibliographic research presents the historical, social and theological roots of the legal system. The field research was carried out in the Teresina judicial district, with the goal of verifying how restorative justice is being implanted, as well as getting to know the difficulties experienced by the team of the restorative circle. The goals were explorative, and as an instrument for collecting data a mixed type of questionnaire was used. Based on the observations carried out one can perceive that in nine years experiencing this reality, the Piauí justice system is confronting difficulties which go from the knowledge of the population to the experience of the circle in its intensity. The conclusion is that advances were made but there are still many challenges to be overcome.
