Abstract:
The goal of this paper is to get to know the particular realities of single women in some Christian congregations; identify some of the dilemas present [in their lives] and discover how and how much these have influenced their lives. It also seeks to discover, with the help of Gender Studies and Feminist Theology, the arguments which have been or are used to negate, disqualify or affirm their experiences in exercising their ministries or leadership roles. Finally, it outlines various of the challenges present in the ministerial practice not only of and with the single women, but also of the congregations in which they participate, which can be considered the starting point for improving their pastoral work. According to this study, there are pre-established models where the particular needs of the single women are not attended and, therefore, most of the time, are not considered important.
