Abstract:
In this interdisciplinary research suicide in contemporaneity is investigated, problematizing the fact that the consumption relation is causing changes in the economy, in the family, as well as causing the emergence of a new production of subjectivity, influencing the way the individual is and is being in society. Confronted with the uncertainties and instabilities of the contemporary world, we discuss about in what way the life style is causing the individual to be ill and provoking un-wellness, lack of support, a feeling of emptiness and risk of suicide. Based on this issue, the intent is to delineate in what way a culture of consumption fences in the subject to consuming their own life. The approach includes perspectives of psychology, sociology and theology to the extent in which the construction of knowledge about the individual demands an interlocution between the various knowledges. This research aims to contribute to a clinical practice which comprehends and acts to prevent triggering of suicidal acts.
