Resumen:
This final master s paper deals with an investigation carried out about the
contribution of geographic knowledge in Education for Youth and Adults. For
this, bibliographic research was carried out focusing on dissertations and theses
produced in Brazil between the years of 2006 and 2009. EJA [Education for
Youth and Adults] is a modality of teaching which has been able to glimpse a
timid transformation in its educational practices within the period between the
middle of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Toward this end
it is necessary to think of public policies aimed at this segment. In this light, we
have as theme of this study the teaching of Geography in Education for Youth
and Adults , which is justified because of the importance this has for society in
the promotion of the personal, professional and social development of the EJA
student and educator; it is also of extreme relevance for the educational
universe, since the modality of teaching in question is being increasingly
debated and its pedagogical and curricular quality is being improved. It is also
of great relevance for the academic world, because it can become a source for
future research, contributing to discussions which can provoke changes in the
modality of teaching and in the curricular component in question. For the
professional future it is an opportunity for improvement which will help develop
competency and abilities in the area researched. Besides this, it was a theme
which generated curiosity for deepening knowledge in the theme, since interest
was aroused while the way of teaching Geography in EJA was being observed.
