Abstract:
In the quest for understanding the many concerns about the evaluation of
learning, this research had as its goal to investigate the benefits which the
evaluation of learning in Primary Education, normally propitiates for the
educators and for the children involved in the process. For this, we opted to
analyze, through bibliographic and documental research, the perspective of
authors with regard to the concepts of learning evaluation, the reflection around
the subject and the available related articles in the Revista Nova Escola [New
School Journal] between the years of 2006 and 2011. This paper is structured
in three chapters. In the first chapter we discuss: the concept of Primary
Education from the historical aspect; Primary Education in Brazil confronted
with the advances, the challenges and the Public Policies; it talks about Primary
Education and Evaluation focusing on Brazilian educational legislation. The
second chapter presents the most variable concepts of evaluation in the
perspective of the authors focusing on: the theoretical and practical concepts of
learning evaluation in Primary Education; the work of the teacher with regard to
the evaluation of learning in Primary Education emphasizing the importance of
the process of evaluation in Primary Education and its usefulness for the
development of learning especially in children of 0 to 5 years of age. The third
chapter presents, as a parameter, an analysis of the articles in the New School
Journal from 2006 to 2011 which talk especially about the evaluation of learning
in Primary Education based on a critical-reflective analysis. After analysis and
reflection about the articles of the New School journal, the discussion and the
results obtained through the object of research showed that the traditional
evaluation is still present within the educational institution, but changes are
being revealed by the actors who feel a need to reconstruct the evaluation
process.
