Resumo:
It is possible to see that pop culture generates great movement in society, promoting a culture of consumption, a sense of community and belonging. In addition to providing entertainment, it has been noticed that it can be used as a form of cultural influence and a point of contact between people with the same interests or with basic knowledge on the subject. From pop culture as a point of convergence between the author and students, the first steps towards its use as a method of contextualization emerge. In view of this, a selection of pop culture materials was made, and films and series (including animated series) were selected for study and use. This work seeks, first of all, to delimit the functions to be performed within the Adventist school chaplaincy, using denominational materials and the author's personal experience. In addition, it aims to investigate the concept of pop culture in dialogue with the learning process of adolescents with regard to theological themes and biblical content. The general objective of this research is to investigate to what extent pop culture films and series can be used in the practice of school chaplaincy. To achieve this, some specific auxiliary objectives were defined: 1) To describe the activities of a school chaplain of the Adventist Education Network, based on denominational materials and the author's personal experience; 2) To analyze the relevance of pop culture in the formation of personal religious concepts; 3) To explore conflicts and tensions between religiosity and pop culture; 4) To examine the importance of contextualization in teaching biblical principles to adolescents; 5) To present the concept of theological reflection of everyday life as a method of contextualization, analysis and interpretation of pop culture films and series in the practice of school chaplaincy. In order to build a theoretical basis that allows the understanding and analysis of this phenomenon, this work analyzed two main epistemic strands. The first addresses education and chaplaincy, having as main authors Ellen White (2008), George Knight (2007) and Walmir Vieira and Geoval Jacinto Silva (2009). The second part deals with the concepts of culture, contextualization, and the use of pop culture as a tool for theological reflection in everyday life, with authors such as Justo González (2009), Beatriz Alice Weyne Kullmann de Souza (2015), Iuri Andréas Reblin (2010), and Allan Novaes and Felipe Carmo (2017). The primary research material was delimited based on qualitative criteria, considering philosophical aspects of the nature of education and the use of pop culture. As a result, it was possible to structure activities and actions for Adventist school chaplaincy, identify the relevance of pop culture in the formation of philosophical and religious concepts, and understand the influences of concepts such as high and low culture and industrialized production. Although these characteristics may be seen as negative by society, it was possible to propose a method for using pop culture as a form of contextualization for teaching the Bible to adolescents. Finally, the presentation of theological reflection in everyday life stands out, implemented through practical actions in the school context, such as classes and chapels.
