Abstract:
The thesis presented here aims to analyze the perspective regarding the diaconal transversality of the music ministry in Pentecostal churches, especially in the Assembleias de Deus no Brasil (Assemblies of God Churches in Brazil - ADB). This is not a case study or a simple theoretical review, but a theological approach to the phenomenon of music in Pentecostal churches under the influence of the cultural industry and its possibilities. The point defended is characterized as follows: based on Félix Guattari's notion of transversality, and theologically based on diakonia as mediation, a perspective inaugurated by John Collins, we seek to understand the music ministry within Pentecostals as a rhizomatic form of meanings according to which a certain demand arising from the real world of individuals can find opening to new meanings, understanding the relationship and dialogue of intersubjectivities mediated by music in churches as a privileged place for communicating the Good News of Jesus. Through the ministry of music in Pentecostal churches, the proclamation of the Good News is presented poietically, that is, creatively, generating new poiesis according to the interactions of each believer. As a result, the ministry of music in Pentecostal churches has the existential possibility of organizing meanings that arise from the real world of the faithful in new symbolic keys, since contemporary worship music allows them to make relationships of meanings and, in this way, existentially rearrange the significant foundations of the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The poietic character of diaconal transversality results from the capacity of the believer to produce new meanings of existence from worship experiences with music and its ministry.
