Resumo:
In the Bible it is possible to notice two theological lines that deal with the wealth and salvation of the individual. If, on the one hand, it is possible to perceive that obedience and fidelity to God, in some way, indicate a certain expectation of attention, protection and even reward from the part of the creator, on the other hand, it is noted that the perspective of abandoning riches and the effective dedication to God, without worrying about other things, would be the true way for the happiness and salvation of the human being. This work seeks to analyze what the Bible says about prosperity in excerpts from the Old Testament (OT), as well as the relationship of the people of that time with prosperity. It will investigate the predominant thought and the most recurrent understanding regarding the accumulation of goods and also what the men used by God said about this theme. In order to compare the perceptions of the two theological lines mentioned, what the Gospel of Luke reports on this same subject and what Jesus' view on it is will be analyzed. In this sense, the intention of this work is to carry out a research focused on understanding the relationship between biblical teachings and the accumulation of wealth and the pursuit of prosperity in Old Testament passages, in light of Luke's writings and his predominant idea of abandoning riches. For this, analyses of management, production and income distribution models will be carried out, in addition to the study of the review of part of the Jewish literature throughout its history. In this way, one hopes to better understand to what extent wealth can interfere in the process of human salvation.
