Resumen:
The search for comprehensive patient care permeates the psycho-spiritual needs of the human being, emphasizing the relevance of the spiritual dimension as a way of expanding the well-being of the person served. The general objective of this study is to investigate how spirituality and psychology, in a united way, could contribute to the process of prevention and recovery of the sick person. Bibliographic research was used as a methodology, through a survey of the scientific literature on the subject, focusing on authors such as Leonardo Boff, Edênio Valle, Donald Winnicott and Viktor Frankl. It was found that care is essential for all human beings, being part of each stage of life, which guarantees the survival of the individual. When analyzing comprehensive care, it was observed that spirituality is a very relevant part, since it is described as an essential part, which contemplates their need to discover the meaning of life, creating a deeper relationship with their religiosity and a connection with the creator. Within this approach, Psychology is a science that makes it possible for this connection not to be lost, having seen the study of the human being in its entirety, aiming to know all their actions and motivations, to understand the factors that move them as an individual. Thus, psychospiritual care makes it possible to provide care aimed at the biopsychosocial and spiritual needs of the individual, offering comprehensive care aimed at their well-being. It was concluded that psychospiritual care has great relevance for the integral care of the patient, contributing greatly to the subject being cured and/or rehabilitated from their pathologies.
