Resumen:
This work aims to present the main elements that constitute the sacred and pastoral space of Santa Cruz dos Milagres (Holy Cross of Miracles). For this, we will discuss this proposal in three moments that we call chapters. In the chapter entitled “The emergence of the Sanctuary of Santa Cruz dos Milagres” we will present how the historical-pastoral process of construction of the Sanctuary of Santa Cruz dos Milagres took place as a people of God and a sacred space dedicated to the practice of prayers and requests for miracles. In the chapter entitled "Pastoral assistance at the Sanctuary of Santa Cruz dos Milagres" we outline the process of initiation and continuation of pastoral assistance to the People of God that had taken place in the pilgrimage to the Santa Cruz [sanctuary] since the mid-19th century and in the chapter entitled "Relationship between TDL [Liberation Theology] and piety: an analysis of the multiple popular manifestations of pilgrims”, we draw attention to the notorious expressions of resistance and faith of the People of God who devoutly turn to the Santa Cruz dos Milagres [sanctuary].
