Abstract

The goal of this paper is to reflect about the origin of the Church in Cells. Church in Cells is the name given to a way of being church. For this it traces out a meeting point with the church of the Acts of the Apostles, through the common principles existing in both. In this way, this work uses the methodology of bibliographic research to contemplate the theme, dividing it into three chapters. Part of the Book of the Acts of the Apostles which helps in the understanding of the formation of the first Christian communities, points to the concept of Church, as well as verifies which are the principles of the Christian life. Following, it reflects about the Church in Cells based on those who questioned and suggested new ways of being church, such as Luther, Spener, Wesley, among others, until arriving to the concept of Church in Cells and its first models. Finally, it highlights the theological aspects which give foundation for the Church in Cells, focusing on the universal priesthood of all believers, evangelism, leadership and the organization of the Church in Cells. Based on this approach it intends to verify how the Church in Cells makes the church more participative among its members, making it possible for them to be active in the mission and in evangelism, as the universal priesthood of all believers proposes. In this way, evangelism ends up being truly exercised to make the Word of God come alive, and consequently, the Christian life as well.
