Abstract

An approach to the practice of prayer for a life of faith from biblical characters from the Old Testament to the New Testament, emphasizing the teachings of Jesus and some apostles, such as Paul. A highlight also about the practicality of prayer developed by the early church. In the first part it is attentive to the definition of prayer and its nature, highlighting it as a dialogue with God that generates communion and faith, and, for a more precise understanding of what prayer is, seeks a biblical and theological definition, highlighting the question of faith. In the second part, it gives relevance to the life of prayer and faith of the times of the fathers of the Church, among other personalities, clarifying that, although in a very primitive way, they received from God, through revelation, the guidelines so that they could pray as the Your wish. The perfection of prayer arises in the period of the New Testament with the emphasis that Jesus gives to pray for the will of the father, according to his commandments. In the third part, the focus is on the theological look at prayer, talking about the importance of the knowledge of God and His word for a referral of true faith, which will lead the person who prays to develop prayers according to divine standards. Theology helps the prayerful person to perceive to whom they pray, that is, the focus of prayer, thus it will generate positive consequences for life, as well as Thanksgivings, praises and adoration of the father. For this work, biblical content is used, systematic theology among other works that served as references to prayer in a post-modern world.
