Unção com óleo: uma proposta de rito no contexto luterano brasileiro

Abstract

This thesis analyzes the rite of unction with oil and seeks to conceptualize its role analyzing it in a biblical-historical-anthropological perspective. It investigates the importance of this primitive rite within the contemporary Lutheran church focusing on its spiritual value in confronting infirmity and as a provider of well being, and God’s care and protection of God’s people. It aims to understand the importance of the rites and symbols in daily living out of the faith, in life in society and the perception that the rites shape life and it is necessary to study them for self knowledge as human beings who live in family, in community, in society, in the world. Rites have always accompanied the human being throughout all of history and they continue to have an important role in their lives. The study of the historical experience of the church with unction with oil will bring more clarity of its use throughout the centuries, of the modifications it has suffered and of its importance in the community. To motivate the research about the subject and the insertion of the rite of unction with oil in the congregational life of the Evangelical Church of Lutheran Confession in Brazil (IECLB) where it is not well known and not used very much, liturgical resources are offered as well as reports of people who participated in the unction.
