Resumo:
This study proposes to demonstrate the contribution and the relation of the ISAEC recording studio with the artistic community of Porto Alegre; more precisely with two of the best known groups in the city: the Raiz de Pedra (Stone Root) group and the Cheiro de Vida (Smell of Life) group – instrumental music – covering the period between the end of the 70’s and all of the 80’s. Analyzing the specific social, cultural, technological and political context, in focus is the process which permitted the construction, on the part of artists, musicians, recording studios and the public, of a social machinery which fed the events of the time and would influence future generations. Describing the history of ISAEC since its beginnings and that of the two instrumental bands, the similarities of the bands with the philosophy of work of the recording studio will be presented as well as the destiny which all three institutions had in common. The study presents, in synthesis, names of musicians and bands which made, make and will make history in instrumental music in Porto Alegre.
