Abstract

The present work focuses on the importance of listening to the narratives of sick people in a hospital environment. It seeks lights in Jesus of Nazareth as a paradigm of care. The research situates the hospital reality and the context of illness and healing in the gospels. It reflects on listening to sick people in a hospital environment. Care for sick people is a unique gesture in this health space. The biblical pericope is the account of the woman who had suffered from hemorrhage for twelve years, who made a decision and faced the crowd to touch Jesus. This text awakens the importance of an attentive and empathetic listening attitude towards the sick person. Jesus' gesture to this woman and to the patients of the time sheds light on the reality of listening, giving attention to and caring for people in a state of hospitalization. We will reflect on the value of touch and listening of the health professionals with their patients. With this same attention, we will talk about the importance of people who work in the hospital health ministry to improve themselves in listening to the narratives of sick people. We will pay attention to the dimension of Christian spirituality for a good mission in hospital ministry. We will indicate some tips for those who want to take on the mission.
