A ética da virtude: uma análise das decisões do tribunal de ética e disciplina da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil – Seccional Maranhão

Abstract

This paper aims at analyzing the decisions of the Ethics and Discipline Tribunal of the OAB/MA [Lawyer’s Order of Brazil/Maranhão] (EDT/MA) to perceive if the ethics of virtue is fomented through the judgements. The research, in the first moment, began with a review of literature to establish the differences between ethics and morality, as well as to deepen the studies about the work of philosophers such as Aristotle and Kant. A review was also carried out about Christian ethics where space was opened for the thinking of Saint Thomas Aquinas, May and Boff. The second stage of the research was made up of documental research based on the digitalization of the decisions of the EDT/MA and the analysis of the collected material. As the main result, the research permits the affirmation that the decisions of the EDT/MA contribute toward guiding the profession of the lawyer through the cultivation of the ethics of virtues.
