Abstract

The reality of the family presents itself in various forms and generates innumerous discussions based on social, cultural and religious comprehensions. The family is an organism which forms the base of social relations and in some way, is the nucleus which promotes the socialization and the interaction in this society. The first human experiences are assimilated within the bosom of the family. The contemporary family lives on the boundary between the modern model of family and the horizon of new paradigms which bring feelings of uncertainties and great transformations in their basic structure. The social and economic structure experienced in current society forces the re-adaptation of the family structure itself. The changes in the rhythms of life imposed by the society of capital shoves to the center of this market the dimension of consumption and of subjectivity which identifies the individual quests as the most viable in this context. The worsening of the insecurity in regard to basic issues of survival, increased by the scarcity of work and of economic stability challenge the social thinkers to imagine new perspectives. For this the gestation of a new paradigm for the family is proposed which has as its base cooperation, solidarity and a comprehension that new concepts about family are necessary. One of the inspirations for this can be sought from the teachings of Jesus pointing to his way of conceiving of family which is based on the practice of that which is the will of God. The family of Bethany is the symbol of this new proposal of inclusion of what one can understand as family, cultivating values of solidarity, of caring and of spirituality.
