O culto ao corpo e os transtornos da imagem corporal: A antropologia teológica frente aos desafios da cultura do corpo fisicamente perfeito

Abstract

This research investigates the onus caused by the culture of the physically perfect body, also known as the fitness culture, and its relation to the Greek dualism between body and soul. One understands an onus to be the disorders of perception of the body image, more precisely vigorexia and muscular dysmorphia. Such disorders do not only lead to losses in the individual, social and professional spheres but also promote a cult to the body understood here as somatolatria. It is based on these disorders that this research offers, differently than the techniques of pastoral care and counseling, resources from theological anthropology with regard to the conception of the body with the intention of equipping caretakers when faced with the challenges of the culture of the physically perfect body.
